Recent weather, cancellations and rising operating costs are putting serious pressure on airsoft fields.
Some fields are increasing prices by around ¥500–¥1,000 per player. In many cases, this is not about making more profit — it is about staying open.
What is happening?
Typhoons and persistent rain have forced many fields to cancel operating days.
Fields may prepare for 30+ players, then lose a large percentage shortly before game day.
Storm damage, barricade repairs and general maintenance quickly become expensive.
Many airsoft fields operate with relatively little financial buffer.
- ◆ One could no longer afford the repairs required after severe weather damage.
- ◆ Another suffered repeated cancellations and could no longer sustain staffing and operating costs.
Why AOJ does not simply choose the cheapest field
Saving a few hundred yen is not always worth sacrificing reliability.
- ✓ Known and reliable field management
- ✓ Proven safety standards
- ✓ Suitable facilities and field layout
- ✓ Staff familiar with AOJ events
- ✓ Less risk of unexpected operational problems
We will still consider new fields, but we would rather use a venue we know and trust than move purely because another location is temporarily cheaper.
Attendance matters
Last-minute cancellations do not only affect AOJ. They also directly affect the field.
What this means for AOJ players
- ➜ Some future events may increase slightly in price if the field itself raises its fees.
- ➜ AOJ will continue trying to keep event costs reasonable.
- ➜ We will prioritise reliable, safe and proven fields over simply choosing the cheapest option.
- ➜ Strong attendance helps keep both AOJ events and the fields themselves sustainable.
Book responsibly, attend when you can, bring friends, and help keep good airsoft fields operating.
