Ideally for your first game, it is better to rent equipment, but there are also some things you can bring from home to cut some of these costs.
You should also wear something you don’t mind getting a little dirty and sensible shoes for rough terrain like hiking boots/shoes.
Some fields have special deals where you can pay about ÂĄ5,000 and have full rental gear and game fees included.
Otherwise, you are looking at about ÂĄ4,000 for the game and about ÂĄ3,000 for rental equipment.
Please note that the cost of BB’s is separate and never provided with rental guns unless the field has a special deal.
In short, yes.
Those that cannot communicate or follow the guidance and rule explanation will not be allowed to play. So it is always best to be able to understand Japanese or have an interpreter friend with you.
Hexera Arena is the only known airsoft field to provide English support.
Airsoft Online Japan is the only organisation/community to provide full translation support.
(Note, all games hosted by us will be in English and have Japanese interpreters)
You must be 18+ to own/use standard airsoft guns.
Some fields allow minors (10+) with guardian-signed waivers if using low-power “junior” guns (≤0.135J)
The legal limit for civilians in Japan is 0.98 Joules (325 FPS) with a 0.20g BB
Legally, fields have to alert the police and they would come and handle the situation. However depending on how far over the limit it is will depend on the course of action. If it is slightly over, most fields will simply say you cannot use it, or ask you to disable it (usually cutting the battery connector off). If it is quite far over, they will confiscate the gun and call the police.
No. The law states that handguns must not be made of metal and rifles can be made of metal, but must comply with structural integrity laws so that it cannot be converted to a real firearm. For example the rifle body is made of aluminium and not steel etc.
Only HFC-134a, HFC-152a, or Co2 are permitted. Green gas (propane mix) is prohibited at most fields and anything stronger will cause the police to be called (Red Gas, Black Gas etc).
One question we get a lot is, “How much does airsoft hurt?”
Since the legal limit is 0.98 Joules of power from an airsoft gun, when you get hit it will sting for a minute or two, depending where you are hit as well as what you are wearing.
For example.
If you are hit from 30 metres away, it will feel like someone pinched you. While it will sting, it will stop hurting a minute or two after.
If you are hit from 10 metres away, it will hurt more and you may bruise.
This is why we recommend to wear suitable clothing to take the brunt of the force and lessen any pain or discomfort you experience.
Plate carriers, gloves, face protection and a shemagh/neck gaiter will help protect vital areas.
