Limited MilSim Event Planning

As we look ahead, we’ve been asked several times, “Will you host a MilSim event?” While I would love to say a resounding yes, it would come with certain criteria and expectations.

The type of event we would host wouldn’t be hardcore, as that would require cheesy gimmicks to simulate things like aerial combat. We’re also limited by field sizes, which is why we’ve been exploring other field options and even campsites where we could rent the entire land.

One common question we’ve received is whether anyone can join, whether beginners are welcome, or if there are any equipment or weapon restrictions. In short, yes, there are some criteria that participants must meet, and unfortunately, not everyone will be eligible. To avoid favoritism and ensure fairness, we will hold a Zoom meeting to go over the ground rules and have a Q&A session for the event. Additionally, an application form (via Google Forms) will be provided to a third party, who will either accept or decline participants.

Current Application Status

Let’s take a look at the requirements in detail and honestly.

Experience Level

Sadly, we would not accept new players, there will be no rental options at all and no borrowing of equipment. In addition, participants must have attended at least 3 of our games in the past year to know how we work and for us to know if you are capable.

Physical Fitness

Whilst some of us are ripped and others have a dad bod and extra, one aspect is not so much about being able to lift something heavy, but more about agility and endurance. If a participant cannot move quickly and lacks agility, it will be very hard for them to function in the team roles that will be assigned.

Equipment

We will not be too strict on this, but the only aspect we will be strict on is amount of ammunition. There will be no high-capacity magazines, each participant is expected to bring 7 (seven) magazines that are either 30 shot or can be adjusted to be 30 shots each.

Participants must also have a handgun with 3 magazines and have a full BDU with suitable eye protection and helmet in multicam design.

ALL participants must have a radio.

Teamwork & Communication

Participants must be able to work as a team. There are no lone wolves and there will be a chain of command. The games leading up to this, we will be watching how players communicate and work as a team to ensure that the right people are picked.

Manners will also be important as a good soldier not only obeys orders, but projects themselves professionally and with courtesy.

Respect & Rules

For me, this is essential and one of the most important. We only want participants that actively follow the rules and guidelines we set. Essentially, if we have never had to complain to you about anything, you stand a chance. If you have had problems in the community, such as causing arguments or creating a bad atmosphere, then you sadly will not be considered at all.

Commitment

This is the other priority. Those that have cancelled more than once, or book our events at the last minute will not be considered. We need committed participants that book in advance, arrive on time and when they say they will. This event will take several months of planning and there cannot be inconsistencies like someone cancelling because of bad scheduling. One aspect we will have is prepayment only. If you have not paid, then you are not part of the event

What if I have to cancel?

Once a booking is made, it is final. ALL participants must pay in advance and there are no refunds as the event budget will have been decided in advance and purchases will have already been made.

What kind of price are we talking?

We have nothing concrete yet. We do have a lot of variables like equipment to buy, make and prepare, skirmishes to plan amongst other things.

Our typical charter games cost ¥4,500 per person from 10:00 – 16:00 for 40 people. However, given the gravity of the preparations needed the fee will be ¥15.000 since we are using a field for only 20 people. This is where early bookings are essential as we will base the quality of the event and location based on the numbers by the deadline (2 months before the event).

Location?

It will likely be in the Chiba area at renting out SEALS for the day.

Will there be ranks?

Yes. Each team will be chosen based on their equipment and they can apply for a certain role, or be given one based on what they have and their game style. Here is a breakdown of each team’s ranks.

Hits

This is the biggest change.  Hits will be based on location

Take a knee and await the medic to check you

  • Hit on weapon

Tourniquet

  • Hit in the arm, leg, hand or foot

Downed (Not dead, but cannot move without being physically carried or dragged)

  • Torso hit
  • Second plate carrier hit

Dead

  • Throat or Head hit
  • Second torso hit / Third plate carrier hit

Note:

  • Dead players are out for the duration of that mission or until the team earns a reinforcement call.
  • Dead players stay on the field in their location laying down lifeless.
  • Dead players can be looted

Medic Supplies

Medics will have limited tourniquets, bandages and slings.

Each Medic will have

  • 5 Tourniquets
  • 5 Bandages
  • 3 Water Bottles
  • 2 Slings

Information on how they are used will be given during training.

One player can only receive one tourniquet, one bandage and one sling, after this, another limb hit is death.

Missions & Objectives

These will all be handled by HQ and relayed to your radio operator. It is up to them to inform the relevant team leaders and relay information.

There will be multiple skirmishes and the only break will be held at your outpost on the field.

Each outpost must have your

  • BB loaders and bags of BBs
  • Drinks & snacks
  • Other essential equipment

Each opposing force will have different objectives and goals. Some will not have them engage in combat directly, while others will have them working against each other.

Games will be a mixture of stealth based, light engagement, full engagement and require tactics and communication ability as everyone will be working with limited ammunition, limited supplies and limited people.

Weapon Selector & Ammunition

NO HIGH CAPACITY MAGAZINES – Mid caps are okay, providing they are filled with only 30 BB’s per magazine. But Real capacity magazines are ideal.

Ammunition Limits

This is based on per person

  • 210 bbs – Standard AR-15 User
  • 280 bbs – OpFor AK series weapons
  • 800 bbs – LMG User
  • 80 bbs – Marksman Rifle
  • Handgun – 3 magazines

Magazine sharing is encouraged in the event a squad member runs out.

Selector Switching

The selector will be changed based on a squad leader order. When the leader shouts “Weapons Free” that is the signal to switch to full auto fire.

Breaks & Lunch

There will be one break from 12:30 until 13:15. This will be the only time players can leave the field.

Toilet breaks will be managed by an entire squad leaving the field and going together. Timing is crucial as the game does not pause if you leave.

There are no smoking breaks and you cannot smoke on the field.

You cannot return to your outpost without authorisation in the event you need to reload.

Essential Equipment

  • Goggles (Shooting Glasses will not be permitted as they must be flush to the skin)
  • Primary Weapon (you can bring a backup weapon if your breaks, but it will be kept at HQ)
